Pizza Calzone

A delicious classic that you can prepare in your Airfryer: pizza calzone! This calzone is made with tender chicken thigh, but you can play around with various ingredients.

Porciones 2 persons

  • 250 g flour
  • 100 g margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 7 g dried yeast
  • 5 g salt
  • 5 g sugar
  • 100 ml milk
  • 200 g chicken thigh fillet
  • 15 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • Tomato sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Piri Piri herbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Mozzarella, grated
  • 1 egg

  • Create a bread dough by hand or using your food processor. If you knead the dough by hand, do as follows:
  • Put the yeast with the sugar in a bowl and mix with lukewarm milk. Let the mixture rest for a while and meanwhile, sift the flour. Sprinkle the flour in a bowl or on your worktop and make a well in the middle. Add the egg, margarine and the yeast mixture. Knead the dough from the inside out. Gradually add more and more flour to the wet mixture. Knead the dough well; it is ready when it is smooth and not sticky.
  • Grease a bowl with a small amount of oil and place the dough in it to rise. The oil ensures that the dough does not stick to the bowl. Leave a damp cloth over the bowl and let the dough rise for one hour.
  • Cut the chicken into pieces and marinate in one tablespoon of olive oil with the Piri Piri herbs. Finely chop the onion and cut the tomatoes in quarters. Crush the garlic and tear the leaves off the thyme. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to create a delicious filling.
  • Divide the dough in two and roll out to the size of the basket in your Airfryer. Spread the tomato sauce on the pizza, place half of the filling on it and brush the edges lightly with some beaten egg. Now fold the calzones firmly shut. Cut off any edges and brush the calzones with egg. Place the pizzas in the basket and bake for 25 minutes at 175 degrees. Open the Airfryer, sprinkle the pizzas with some mozzarella and let melt for 5 minutes.
